A SCENARIO BY MOONSYLVER
THE STORY
"Airforce One this is mobile unit one, mobile unit one disabled, repeat, mobile unit one is disabled, the Eagle is down. We're going to take cover & await extraction from...AARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!" After that is only static. The General leans forward, an anxious look on his face "That transmission came in at 1400 hrs and was the last one from the Presidents Secret Service. We believe from that transmission that there is a chance that they may have gotten the President to a safe location...safe for the moment at least, the problem is we have no idea where. We want you and your men to go in, locate The Man, and extract him if at all possible." The General stares hard into your eyes. "You're the only one who can do this Dutch." You pause only to blow a cloud of cigar smoke into the air. "Vin do ve leave?"THE SCENARIO
In "The Eagle Is Down" the players are members of an elite special forces unit assigned the mission of locating the missing President & evacuating him from a city overrun by the living dead. This scenario is based on points & there are various levels of victory based on how well the players perform so co-operation is essential.THE SETUP
The drop off point for the players mission is the Town Square Place the Helipad at he bottom of the Map Tiles Deck as normal Each Shotgun Guy starts w/ 5 Ammo & 5 Lives If less than 6 players are playing divvy the Shotgun Guys among all players present. All 6 will be used in this scenario Mark the back of one of your Life Tokens & mix it in a pool w/ 7 others & set them aside for later GAME PLAY
Game play proceeds as per a normal game of Zombies w/ the following variant rules
- Movement based on Lives + 1D6
- Each player draws 1 event card per turn. If it is a weapon or beneficial card he may hold it in his hand until appropriate &/or needed (3 card limit & discard rules still apply). If it is a detrimental card he must bring it into play immediately. If the card is to target a specific player it is played upon the player to the left of the person who drew the card.
- All Zombies move at the end of every other SHOTGUN GUYS turn (& are thus moved 3 times in a full round of turns). Zombies always move toward player in LOS &/or closest
- Map Tiles scroll based on movement
- No "Regeneration"
In addition the following optional rules MAY be added if the players wish (see the variant rules in the database section for more details
- Multiple figures per space
- Combined Attacks
- Combined movement
- Ranged attacks
MISSION OBJECTIVE
The players must locate the President & escort him safely to the Helipad where he will be evacuated. To do this the players must find the marked Life Token. The special pool of tokens prepared & set aside earlier contains this token. These tokens CANNOT be brought into play until there are 6 "Named" locations in play (not counting the Town Square) once you have 6 "Named" locations in play you may begin stocking further named locations from this pool as per normal token placement rules.
IF somehow the marked token hasn't surfaced by the time the last "Named" location comes into play you find the President in the final "Named" location (or for a little harder variant you're too late, he's already been found & eaten by the zombies)
Once the President has been found he moves w/ the Shotgun Guy who found him. If he is killed the President will remain in the space he his rescuer died in (use his token or a Pawn from another game to denote his location. Zombies will move toward the president as they would a player. Roll for the President each turn he is surrounded alone by zombies. On a roll of 1 the zombies have killed the President. If another player arrives in time, they may pick up the President & continue as normal once they defeat any zombies in the space he is in. If the President is killed, game play continues as the team members race to escape the city.
Once the player with the President AND/OR all remaining team members reach the Helipad the mission has been completed. This is an elite unit & fiercely loyal to each other. The only way that the Helicopter can leave w/ team members still trapped in the city is by mutual consent of ALL players. If not the team members at the chopper must try to go back & aid their remaining comrades (the President, however stays with the chopper). Losses incurred by the zombies on the Helipad are replenished by the time the players return. If all team members perish in the attempt before they make it back the President is still evacuated. If a team member is left behind he is NOT considered to have survived for purposes of the victory conditions below.
VICTORY CONDITIONS
There are varying levels of victory that can be achieved in this scenario based on whether the President was successfully extracted or not, how many team members survived, & how many zombies were killed. Tally up your points from the chart below & then compare to the victory levels list.
- 60 points if the President is successfully rescued
- 5 points for each team member who survives
- 1 point for each zombie killed by a SURVIVING team member
VICTORY LEVELS
90+ Spectacular Victory! A major success for the players. 75-89 Victory. A completely successful mission. 30-74 Marginal Victory. The players have managed to gain some success. 29 or less Complete Failure. The mission is considered a complete disasttd>
